Before the industrial revolution the working conditions were tough and everything was done by hand and animals, people worked from sunrise to sunset .In their free time they produced craft items for the urban merchants who would sell them.
The enclosure movement was a legal process in the 18 and 19 century that took land the had been formerly owned by all the members of the village for grazing cattle and growing food and changing it to privately owned land with fences&hedges around it.
As countries industrialized, factories became larger and produced more goods. Earlier forms of work and ways of life began to disappear.Once factories were built the, majority of the people left their families behind in the country for jobs in the city.
