- Dear TIm & Moby What are the states of matter and how do we use them in our lifeFrom Jaskirat
- BEEP BOOP BEEP BEEP
- First off we need to know what matter is made up of. Matter is made up of Tiny particles called atoms. Also matter is anything that takes up space. There are also 3 main states of matter. Solid Liquid and Gas.
- Lets look at water. WAter is made up tiny particles called molecules. When water is in a solid state its called a ice. Ice is basically tightly compacted molecules of water.
- Liquids aren't that tightly compacted together like solids. So that means they have room to move freely.
- Now let's look at water when its a liquid. A liquid has a fixed volume but not a Fixed shape. Like when you put water in a bottle it takes the shape but when you take it out is it still the same shape no it isnt.

- Gasses also don’t have a fixed volume or fixed shape. Gases have plenty of space between each other so the roam completely free. When you heat up a gas the particles will start to maove faster and faster.
- Now lets look at gasses. You can get a gas when you heat up your substance. For instance when you heat up water that vapor thats coming out of the water thats a gas and that's called water vapor.
- Now that we learned about the 3 main stages of matter. Now its time to learn about the 4th one. That is plasma.
- Plasma is an ionized gas. You can find plasma in lightning just like the one behind me and moby or tvs or stars like the sun.
- Another fact about matter is that changing the pressure of a system is another way to create a physical change. So that means you can change the state of matter for a substance when you change the pressure
