- I always say that what matters if for the boys to see us and for us to see them.Since my skirts are shorter,my eyes are pretty and I am way more older than the other girls in Mango Street the boys who do pass by say stupid things like “I am in love with those two green apples you call eyes,give them to me why don’t you”.I just look at them without even blinking and without fear.
- The kids from Mango Street say that I’m older than them and I know more things than them,It is kind of true because I am the one who told them how Davey the Baby’s sister got pregnant and what cream is best for taking off the moustache hair and lots of other things that I can’t remember now.
- My name is Marin and I live with my cousin’s family,his name is Louie and I live with them because my family is in Puerto Rico but next year Louie’s parents are going to send me back to P.R because they say I am to mucho trouble.
- !I like to wear a lot of makeup!,and I get it for free because I sell Avon.I am saving the money I earn from selling Avon to when I get back to Puerto Rico and get married to my boyfriend!!
- My boyfriend is in Puerto Rico,he sends me letters and we are planning on getting married when I get back to Puerto Rico.
