  • We'll never be able to find a proof of evolution for our project here! All I see are a bunch of rocks and no fossils!
  • Well we gotta find something quick, it's due tomorrow! The fossil record stated that older bones are more deep underground depending on their age, so there's gotta be some deep underground!
  • Well, I heard our area's species of whales had a strange homologous structure in their ear, as the bone looks closely towards land animals. They also have a pelvic bone classified as a vestigial structure since it has no purpose yet seems to be corresponding with land animals. Maybe that can be our proof for our project!
  • That does sound good proof, then again how could we explain why land animals would evolve into whales?
  • Maybe a million years ago, this area's population of land animals couldn't find food in their area, and just hunted for food underwater.
  • So you are saying that land animals evolved to whales due to a shortage of food, resulting in mutations that changed the land animals' traits to fit a marine environment?
  • Well if you explain it like that with a lot of details, yeah I guess so. So that could be our proof of adaptations in evolution.
  • But we still have to prove that natural selection is in evolution in our project, but how can we prove that?
  • Simple! Like you said before, animals with traits that make it suitable with them to live in a marine envoirment live longer than those on land because of the food shortage, casuing a type of natural selection called direction selection!
  • And you say I explain with a lot of details! But I guess that make sense since one extreme is in favor than the other extreme, but how is that any different between the other types of natural selection like diversifying or stabilizing selection?
  • You're kidding right? Diversifying selection is when the moderate genes of the species are unfavoring while stabilizing selection is when the moderate genes are favoring!
  • That makes sene I guess. We have proof for adaptations and natural selections in evolution, but remember the last conclusion question for our project?
