- This constitution will provide independence and abolish slavery. I will govern this this island for as long as I live.

- After beating 2 white colonies, Toussaint creates the 1st constitution. The constitution provided independence for all and it abolished slavery , Toussaint also wrote that he will govern the island for as long as he lived.
- Toussaint L'Ouverture arrested
- After Napoleon came to power in France, he aimed to return to Saint-Domingue. Napoleon dispatched an expedition of French soldiers t Saint-Domingue, the expedition was led by Napoleon's brother in law, Charles Leclerc.
- Toussaint L'Ouverture dies
- This is the end for me...
- Napoleon wanted to get profit from the plantations, he waned to restablish French authority and slavery in Saint-domingue.

- Toussaint L'Ouverture gets arrested by Charles Leclerc (Napoleon's brother in law.) Toussaint is taken to a jail in France (Fort de Joux).
- I'm going to take you as a hostage!
- Toussaint spend some time in Fort de Joux. That would change on April 7, 1803 where he died. He was tortured while being in Fort de Joux, he eventually ended up dying after being through so much torture.
- After Toussaint had died the Haitians continued to fight off the French army.
