- On page 178 of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, it says "Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That's gold." This was in the letter to Ponyboy from Johnny the was in Gone With the Wind. Ponyboys love of sunsets was often shared with Johnny. Sharing love like this is different and unique.
- Love Towards Others
- I'm so sad Johnny died!
- Ponyboy loves movies more than anyone in the gang. Sometimes it is difficult to understand things that you don't like. On Page 2 of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, it says, "Soda tries to understand, at least, which is more than Darry does. But then, Sodais different from anybody; he understands everything, almost." This shows that Sodapop truly loves PonyBoy because he is willing to understand his interests.
- Romance

- After Johnny killed Bob, Ponyboy and Johnny went to Dally for help. Chapter 4 of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, says, "He threw a towel at me. "Dry off and wait here. At least Johnny's got his jeans jacket. You ought to know better than to run away in just a sweatshirt, and a wetone at that. Don't you ever use your head?" Page 60. This shows that Dally really cares for them and will help them in any situation.
- Family Love

- Johnny was the only thing Dally truly loved, and after Johnny died, Dally thought he had nothing to live for. On-Page 154 of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton it says, "---I knew he would be dead, because Dally Winston wanted to be dead and he always got what he wanted." This shows that Dally loved Johnny so much and the only thing keeping him alive was his love for Johnny.
- On Page 17/18 of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton it says, ""I think I'm gonna marry Sandy. After she gets out of school" This quote shows that Sodapop really cares about Sandy and he really loves her. Romance is a very common type if love.
- On page 18 of The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton it says, "and I get a better job and everything. I might wait till you get out of school, though. So I can still help Darry with the bills and stuff." Sodapop really loves and cares about his family enough to help pay bills. Family love is one of the most important types of love.
