  • Down with Caesar! We hate that vile man!
  • Act 1 Scene 2
  • Caesar, beware of the ides of March!
  • Why should Caesar be scared?

  • I didn't even feel anything until you have brought it up.
  • Flavius and Marullus are scolding the commoners for taking a day off work to celebrate Caesar. They start to take down the decorations on Caesar's statues. They are upset and oppose Caesar. This scene is important to the plot because it introduces us to the characters and shows us how the story will continue from here.
  • Act 2 Scene 1
  • If I can bear the pain of this bleeding thigh, I can keep your secrets!

  • Caesar is being celebrated when out of nowhere a soothsayer calls out Caesar. He warns Caesar to beware of the ides of March. Caesar is not superstitious so he ignores what the soothsayer has to say. This scene is important to the plot because it foreshadows the problem Caesar will face. He will trust people and get backstabbed for it.
  • Act 2 Scene 2
  • Caesar will go out for even fear is scared of the mighty Caesar!
  • Caesar you will not go out today!
  • Casca is returning to the capital when he sees a lion on the capital steps, a slave whose hand is on fire, and an owl that is shrieking. Casca takes these 3 omens as a sign that if Caesar becomes king the world will become far worse. This scene is important to the plot because the omens foreshadow the things that will happen when Caesar becomes king.

  • Caesar please read my letter, it's really important!
  • For me the good of Rome is first and personal business will be dealt with last!
  • Brutus is awake and restless at night. He is trying to gather himself to believe that he is killing Caesar for a just cause. He is stressed and his wife sees him stressed. She wants to know what is bothering him so to prove she can keep his secret she stabs herself in the thigh. This scene is important to the plot because Brutus who is one of the main characters is having a huge internal conflict.
  • Calpurnia has a dream in which Caesar dies. She sees Caesar leaking blood from 100 holes and the people of Rome bathing in his blood. She begs Caesar to stay home and tell the senate he is sick. When Brutus comes to Caesar he assures him that Calpurnia's bad dream was a good omen. This scene is important to the plot because it is foreshadowing that Caesar will die.
  • Artemidorus, one of Caesar's closest friends tries to warn Caesar that he is in danger. He writes a letter to Caesar and tries to hand it to him but Caesar ignores him. Later when Caesar goes into the senate he is killed by the conspirators. This scene is important to the plot because it foreshadowed the last and final warning that Caesar was going to die.
