- Will all great Neptune's ocean wash this blood clean from my hand.
- Macbeth kills the king and is in constant fear and is having doubts about what he has done. While lady Macbeth seems to not feel anything.
- This scene is the witches prophecy, Macbeth will become the Thane of Cawdor; Macbeth will become king; and Banquo’s children will be kings.
- no man born of woman can defeat him, and that he will not be vanquished until Birnam Wood should come to Dunsinane,
- Macduff finds Duncan's body and comes running back, screaming that Duncan is dead. He awakens the entire house, including Banquo, Duncan's sons—Malcolm and Donalbain, and Lady Macbeth.
- Macbeth once Duncan is asleep, I'll get his servants so drunk that they pass out. Then you and I can kill Duncan and blame his servants for the killing.
- Macbeth and Lady Macbeth start planning their assassination on the king and his family.
- Banquo reflects on how the second prophecy has come true. He then suspects Macbeth ‘played’st most foully’ and killed Duncan for the crown Macbeth feared Banquo's descendants will. He did something unimaginable.
- Macbeth should fear Macduff; Macbeth cannot be harmed by anyone born of a woman; and Macbeth will not be defeated until Birnam Wood? moves to Dunsinane?
- After Macbeth realizes he is afraid of what Banquo can do and the power he has he kills him. Macbeth never hesitated to kill his best friend or his bestfriends family so he would never hesitate to kill anyone else.
- Macbeth visits the witches again. The witches make three more prophicies.
