- Hello, We are here in Mexico City checking out this extreme water crisis
- First lets talk about the water quality of Mexico City. The pH in Mexico City ranges from 6.9 to 8.5. The Nitrite level is 0.05 and the Nitrate level is 5.00. The ammonia level is unkown but we have this information for now.
- Hi my name is Trenton Lingold, this is Connor Mawhiney, and this is Matthew Hoffman. We have come here today to show the real dangers of what is happening in Mexico City.
- As you can see, Mexico City is built on a lagoon and over the centuries the Spanish have drained this lake for personal use which as resulted in no support underneath the city.
- Since their has been no support underneath the city, the ground has fractured throughout the years and is sinking into the ground.
- The government has done nothing about this crisis other than acknowledging it. Studies have shown that if nothing is done to help the city, the day zero for Mexico City could be as close as 2050. The current president of Mexico is Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. This water crisis started in the early 1900's. Mexico City reportedly loses 1,000 liters of water per second.
- Also the homes in Mexico are not being supplied with enough water for day to day living and part of that reason why is because the place where the city gets its water from has leaked 40% of its water
- The population has gone up 7 million people within the past 40 years varying from 1980 at 13 million, 1990 at 15 million, 2000 at 18 million, 2010 at 20 million. and now 2021 at 21 million people
- Mexico city is located 737 miles away from the Mexican border and is the capital of Mexico. The economics of Mexico city have generated a lot of income, in fact the exports of Mexico City in 2019 generated 480 billion dollars.
- The quality of life is decent, their are some government issues such as them not fixing the water crisis and not supplied enough water.
- The average rainfall changes by 0.2 percent every year. The change in average temperature throughout the past 30 years has been 0.021
