Everyone hasmultiple concerns and opinions that they want to express. People thenorganizethemselves into different parties. Citizens that are 18 and older are allowed to vote and a vote information card is sent out to people who are eligible to vote.



Each party in each riding will nominate someone to become the MPP and try to get support of voters. Those nominated candidates will run the next provincial election.Remember, you can only vote for the candidates within your designated riding. Voting option include polling stations or by special ballot.

Thecandidatewith the most votes wins and becomes the Member of Provincial Parliament for that designated riding.

The votes are counted up and the party with the most votes from each electoral district then becomes the party in power.

The party in power forms thegovernmentand the party leader then becomes the Premier.

The Legislative Assembly ofOntario aids the Premier and the rest of his government to carry out their daily responsibilities. The official opposition leader meets with the currentprovincial government to keep to government on track.
