- the fire on the mountain symbolizes civilization. in my opinion, the fire also symbolizes the warmth of friendship and getting things done by working together in the earlier chapters. now, the fire is just a thing they need so that they can cook
- lord of the flies
- the conch symbolizes authority and leadership. as the shell is used to call all the boys on the island to hold a meeting or an assembly so that everyone's opinions can be heard, it is also a symbol of democracy and civilization.
- piggys' glasses
- the dead parachutis is the authors way of telling us that there is world war 2 going on in the civilized part of the world. i think the parachutis is also a symbol of paranoia everyone on the island has about the beast
- the "beast"
- The lord of the flies is the symbol of deep barbaric instincts that lies inside all human beings. it tells us that evil lies within every human heart and the beast is that evil inside them
- piggy is the most intelligent person on the island. piggys glasses now are the symbol of intelligence and the ability to understand or see through things.
- the beast is the form of terror that haunts all the littluns, including the biguns, so the beast is the symbol of paranoia that they made up. this leads to everyone mistaking the dead parachutist as the beast
