This comic strip models John Locke's point of view on the government. He believed that if it overpowered the citizens in any way, or deducted any of the citizens' normal rights, then the citizens had the right to overthrow the government. Locke also focused heavily on the idea of liberty (which was later a part of the Declaration of Independence), and was a big part of the Englightenment. Locke felt that the needs of individuals should be sufficiently satisfied by the government and that the individuals should be entitled to freedom.
