- Sin has spread through out the world. But God still loved humans. and so he plans to bring blessing to the whole world again. His plan would come about through a man called Abraham. God promises that he would have descendants, who would live in a land provided by god and through them the whole world would be blessed.
- Abraham had many descendants, but they ended up living in Egypt in slavery. This was not the land and blessed life God was talking about!
- Moses tries to persuade the pharaoh to let his people go. The pharaoh disagrees and Moses send ten plagues to Egypt. 1. The water turns to blood. 2. Frogs invade 3. dust turns to Gnats and lice and cover the city. 4. swarms of flies. 5. Livestock get sick and die. 6. boils break out on the Egyptians and animals. 7. Hail strikes down. 8. lotus devour every tree in the land of Egypt. 9. Darkness covers the land for three days. 10. Every first born son dies including the Pharaohs. The Pharaoh lets his people go and Moses leads them out of Egypt.
- God said to the people of Israel. I am the Lord your God, the one who brought you out of Egypt where you were slaves. The ten commandments God gave them were: 1. Worship only me, 2. don't make idols, 3. don't misuse my name, 4. rest on the sabbath day, 5. respect your parents, 6. don't murder, 7. be faithful in marriage, 8. don't steal, 9. don't lie about others, 10. and don't be jealous of other's stuff.
- The Israelites arrived at the promised land fairly quickly, however they heard that there were soldiers and scary people so they did not believe in God and did not want the promised land, they wander into the desert for 40 years and God decided that if they did not want the promised land he would give it to their children, so they all died eventually and their children went to the promised land. The promised land in Canaan.
- The Israelites stopped worshipping God and worshiped idols, God got angry and let other nations invade and steal their crops. When Israel suffered they prayed to God. God sent a judge to rescue them, the judges led Israel to victory over their enemies. After Israel was saved they lived in peace until the judge died and then they worshipped idols again. This cycle of rejecting God turning back to God goes on and one for Centuries.
