  • Earth's AtmosphereBy: Ethan Hilbert
  • WOW! The air is thin down here...
  • YEAH! That's because when the Earth was formed billions of years ago, It had little to no oxygen. It was a barren wasteland with no plants!
  • Volcanoes!!!! I'm going home!
  • A lack of life meant a lack of oxygen. It included hydrogen sulfide, methane, and ten to 200 times as much carbon dioxide as today's atmosphere. Oh and yeah, VOLCANOES!
  • Only a few billion years ago, life began to grow after a fiery period of volcanoes. Thanks mother nature!
  • Tiny photosynthetic organisms produced enough oxygen to react with the methane in the atmosphere, transforming it
  • Between 700-550 million years ago, in the late Proterozoic, oxygen levels in the oceans and atmosphere increased dramatically. I bet ur asking yourself, Why is there a comically large pink beaver next to me? It's a comic, don't ask questions, besides we're here to learn about the atmosphere!
  • Thanks to the development of our atmosphere, we now have breathable oxygen and a safe place to live.
  • Now our atmosphere is capable of supporting life in an enclosed ecosystem, yet able to support space travel. Lets go back in time to see where it began. The Birth of the Earth. WOW! I'm a poet and didn't even know it!
