- It is been three years since Ikemefuna arrived, and he is like an older brother to Nwoye. Locusts have descended on the village. Ogbuefi Ezeudu comes to tell Okonkwo that lkemefuna’s destiny has been determined.
- Several days later, Numerous village leaders as warriors arrived with a pot of wine to take lkemefuna outside the village to be killed. When lkemefuna is told he is returning home, he welcomes.

- okonkwo and the group go with lkemefuna. While they are on the way, lkemefuna thinks about his family.

- When they are out of the village, one of the group stabs lkemefuna.
