Jake! The Sand Dunes we just went to were formed 10,000 years ago, I had no idea.
What?! That’s crazy, all that erosion and weathering really can make an impact.
Wow! How can there be this much stuff at one national park.
I wouldn’t know! But the reason the dunes are like this is because the wind from over the lake and from other directions pushes the sand into each other, making them stack creating dunes.
You like the view? It’s pretty cool.Woah big words, but yes over time and lots of erosion caused this sand to form, after the siltstone had compacted and cemented from sediments.
Yeah, they’re cool, but didn’t you say that the predominant rock is Siltstone, a clastic sedimentary rock.
I think this was a very successful trip.Agreed, it’s almost always sad. Other than bad years.
Yeah I’m kinda sad we’re leaving, it’s like the end of a school year.
Well Jake, the trees used to live here and could survive with water and whatnot, but the conditions changed and they died and never decayed.
Why are there so many dead trees? So many cool things here!
