Storyboard Text

  • The Signal Fire => The Signal Fire from the beginning is a symbol of Rescue to the boys, a slight hope that they will get back to their normal lives. It is the only thing on the island that connects the boys to civilization and the outer world hence, it measures the amount of civilized nature that remains on the island. When Jack and the hunters set out for hunting and ignore the fire that is when the civilized instinct in the island starts to finish.
  • The Conch Shell => The Conch shell is a symbol of order and power on the Island, the conch shell is what Ralph and Piggy use to summon the other boys on the Island in the begging, which results in Ralph getting the authority (by being chief). It is also a symbol of democracy which lets the boys right to speak and be an equal part in making decisions.
  • LORD OF THE FLIES => The Lord of the flies i.e. the sow that Jack and his hunters insert in a stick and offer to the "BEAST" is an important symbol of the novel. The Lord of the Flies tells Simon that he indeed is true that the beast lies within all human beings and it is not an actual monster and also foreshadows Simon's death. The Lord of The Flies symbolizes the physical hallucination of the "beast" who is the power of evil that gives rise to evil capacity within all human beings
  • Jack's Mask => The mask that Jack uses before going hunting and after he created his own tribe makes Jack feel liberated and less guilty of doing unethical and savage things. The mask symbolizes a barbaric side of people that the mask allows them to act like. It is a symbolism of liberty to show the boys' (especially Jack's) violent, savage, and bloodthirsty nature.
  • Piggy's glasses => Just like Piggy, Piggy's glasses represent intelligence and rationality. Piggy's glasses are used for making the fire which also represents some sort of power and rescue. When Jack smashed Piggy's glasses, it not only left piggy vulnerable but the hope of rescue got less and the group's instinct of civilization and intellect got less too.
  • The Beast => The imaginary "Beast" that all the boys of the island are scared of is actually a symbolism of savagery that lies within all human beings. The beast is not only a figure they are scared of but the beast gradually becomes a source of power for Jack and later the tribe gives it offerings accepting it as a God figure.
