- Guy Montag is a fireman in a dystopian society who burns books because they make people dull. He is married to a woman named Mildred and they find fun in their day by watching the parlor walls.

- Hello Faber, we need to come up with a plan to frame the firefighters.
- Montag reads a poem to Mildred and her friends, which makes Mildred upset. Mildred then turns her husband into the firefighters where they go and try to burn Montag's house down.
- After Montag kills Beaty for trying to burn his house, he becomes on the run. The mechanical hound chases him and in order to get away from the hound, Montag floats down a river. Once he gets off, he meets a bunch of people who memorize books and restore the knowledge within them.

- Montag seeks advice from an old English Professor named Faber. Together they come up with a plan that involves planting books into firefighters' houses and calling them into the fire department.
