  • This is what the great pacific garbage patch used to look like. It once was a small pile of rubbish floating in the ocean. But now it is one of the world's 5 ocean patches and is bigger than Texas. It is caused by the oceans currents collecting the garbage into a patch in the middle that it can’t escape from
  • But now it has become one of the largest patches in the world. The garbage patch is now 4 times the size of France. Because it is in the ocean, no countries will take responsibility for it. The trash pile just get larger and larger by year
  • People have been trying to rid the ocean of this patch of garbage, but the main way to help this problem is reduce the use of single use plastics. Most countries are doing this, but the patch is unfortunately too big to clean up. We can reduce its growing though, by using biodegradable materials and less plastics. It would just take the combined effort of everyone working together to save the planet.
