- Being a jew was hard, with everyone, even your own friends leaving you, bullying you and hating you because you're a Jew. The germans didn't see us as humans, but as monsters.

- The whole time i was on the boat my father was paranoid that this whole gathering of Jews on the boat to flee to Cuba was a trick. That the nazis would capture us from the boat. He was to paranoid he missed my
