- But, I don't know Sam very well. What are we going to play?
- One day, Jack's mom told him that one of his classmates, Sam, was going to come over for a playdate. Jack was excited to have a playdate, but also a little nervous because he didn't know Sam very well.
- Sam is coming over to play with you today
- When Sam arrived, Jack smiled and invited Sam inside. Sam said Hi and they both smiled at each other. This made Jack feel more comfortable and happy to have Sam over.
- Hi! Welcome to my house!
- Hi!
- As they started to play, Jack and Sam noticed that they both liked to play with the same toy.
- This is my favorite robot!
- I love robots!
- Instead of fighting over it, they decided to share and take turns playing with it. This made both of them feel happy and included.
- Let's take turns. You can play with the robot first, and I'll play with Captain Fantastic!
- Thank you!
- After a while, they were ready for a new game. Jack asked Sam what he would like to play. Sam suggested they play a game of tag, but Jack didn't really like that game.
- Okay, what do you want to play?
- Let's do something else.
- Let's play tag!
- Instead of saying no, Jack compromised and suggested they play a game of hide-and-seek instead.
- How about hide and seek instead.
- Okay!
- Sam was happy with this idea, and they both had fun running around the house.
- For the rest of the afternoon, Jack and Sam had fun playing and taking turns choosing what to play next.
- While they played, Jack made sure to use kind and respectful words with Sam. He listened when Sam was talking, and responded appropriately. When Sam showed Jack a cool toy, Jack said "Wow, that's really cool! Thank you for showing me." This made Sam feel good about sharing with Jack.
