Storyboard Text
- I am Dom Henrique of Portugal, better known as Prince Henry the Navigator. I am the foundation of Portuguese in Africa and India by sponsoring a seafaring expedition to find a route to the east and African gold. I will decide who of the main Portuguese explorers did a better job in providing for our country.
- I am Bartholomew Diaz and I am one of the Portuguese explorers. I am going to carry on Prince Henry's legacy and fulfill his expenses.
- It seemed as if Diaz's exploration was cut short. He sailed around the southern side of Africa, however he feared a rebellion from his crew if he kept sailing further east.
- I am Vasco Da Gama, the other Portuguese explorer. I am going to do whatever Diaz did but better.
- To put it shortly, Da Gama's expedition did better than Diaz's. He sailed further, and calimed Indian territory which led to ports.
- To further expand on my previous statment, I essentially brought up Da Gama's findings. In 1488 I discovered the Cape of Good Hope which showed others an easy route to India.
- Yes, that may be true but I was also said to have discovered the sea route to India. And even if you were said to find it, like said before, I established the colonial empire from Africa to Asia. Later it became part of the Trading post Empire.
- Theres been some discourse between both men but I think from my other knowledge about them I would declare the winner as Vasco Da Gama. Da Gama's naval route became the only direct access to the Indian Ocean for Christian countries. Access to the very valuable Eastern products aided Portugal's transformation from a periphery European monarchy to a great global power.
- Catch us next time with Spanish, French, English, and Dutch explorers which would include Trade across the Pacific, Spanish in the Philippines, and the discovery of New Amsterdam.
