Storyboard Text

  • As you can see in the DNA in the white board I put the 3' to 5' for the top original strand and for the bottom original strand I put 5' to 3'. The original strands are the one that will copied.
  • DNA is going to be ripped into two strands by the Helicase.
  • We have proteins that are called Single-Stranded-Binding Proteins that bind DNA strands to keep both strands separated. We also have topoisomerase which keeps DNA from supercoiling

  • Next we have Primase is going to make RNA primers on both strands that were just ripped by Helicase. WIth the help of the Primase the Polymerase will know where to start.
  • Now Polymerase come to help build a new strand, but when building a new strand it can only build to 5' to 3' direction.

  • The top strand is called the leading strand because it has a easier time meanwhile the bottom strand is called Lagging strand because the primers always have to place for the Polymerase

  • The lagging strand is also where the Okazaki fragments are at .
  • With the Okazaki fragments we have some openings that have to be repaired by Ligase which sealing the entire thing making our DNA molecule.
  • Thats it class, this how DNA Replication works .
  • Thank you, Mr.
