Today, I woke up not knowing where I was. I asked my mom and dad where we were. They said, "In a horse." "A horse?!" I said. "Yes, over night we entered the water cycle," my mom said. "The water what?" I asked. "The water cycle, silly," mom said. "What is the water cycle?" I asked. "The water cycle is a path that all water goes through!" she said. "Ohh OK. Two more questions: Number one, what is that awful stench, and number two, why are we on the ground now?" My dad said, "Well, we just got excreted from the horse."
EWW
What is this tingle!!!!!!!!
"We are now In the soil! When I was your age, I loved learning about this part of the water cycle," my mom said. "Ya that's cool and all, but why are we getting pulled down into the ground?" I asked. "Well, this is all a part of the water cycle, something that is very new to you," my dad explained. My parents and I were pulled deeper into the ground. When I was getting pulled into the ground, I started to wonder when this water cycle would be over. Finally, we entered a river.
We flowed down the river for what seemed like an eternity, but still not as long as we were in the horse, soaking in the sun beams as we drifted along. It is hard to explain, but the current just kept pushing us along, slower in some spots and faster in others. "Where area we going?" I asked. My dad told me that we are heading to the ocean. I was really exited because all of my friends say that the ocean is the best. After a few more minutes we entered the big, wonderful ocean. It was just as my friends said.
The ocean welcomed me with a tingle on my droplet. I felt so weird. I asked my mom what this so-called ocean water was doing to my droplet. She said that it was only sea salt. "Sea salt!" I yelled. Salt and water are two different things; they should not mix! All my friends were so wrong about this sea water, or should I call it salty water. Finally, we flowed into a nice, calm lake. No more of that tingle and jingle. Eww... just thinking about it makes my body feel weird.
We floated around in the lake. I asked my dad, "Will we be water for the entire water cycle?" "No," he replied. "We will change into different gases, shapes, and forms. That is what makes the water cycle so exciting." Eventually, we passed through the lake and were again pulled down into the ground by gravity.
As we were getting pulled down into the ground by gravity, my dad and mom explained that in this stage of the water cycle, we are filtering into the soil as recharge. "What is recharge?" I asked. "Recharge is when water moves downward from surface water to groundwater," my mom said. "So is that the end of the cycle?" I asked. "Of course not," said my dad, "look! We are heading back to the lake."
