- Opening shot of Kalpana enjoying a book. She could be anybody's daughter. Relatable for the audience, inviting them to feel a connection.
- Climax: NGO appears
- We learn that Kalpana is growing up in poverty in India. She has to work as a maid in people's homes so that there's enough money for her to eat. Hook and hold established.
- Falling action: elaborate on our fix
- Kalpana asked her parents to send her to school, but they cannot afford it. Even attending the local government school entails costs like a uniform, and the money she earns as a maid would be lost.
- Resolution and call to action

- Kalpana's family was delighted to learn that our NGO funds learning centres in underprivileged Indian communities, and provides teachers and resources so that out-of-school children like Kalpana can learn in the evenings.
- Kalpana has become an eager and active student at her local centre. She is being schooled in literacy and numeracy and excels at reading.
