- The Italian Campaign begins in Sicily in 1943.
- The Italian Campaign started on June 10th 1943.The battle lasted fr about two years until May 2nd 1945.
- During the takeover of the shore, 4 huge Canadian ships that were going to help fight were shot down by submarines.
- Germany Declares war on Italy and their allies, one main battle on the shore of Sicily.

- A few of the weapons used in the war were handguns, rifles, submachine guns, hand grenades, flame throwers, field artillary, and much more.
- Lots of weapons were used in this fight, but there were also many strategies and skill involved.
- The Germans doing this slowed down the allies and made it harder for them to win the war. It took them an extra 3 months to get past the Germans.
- The Germans took over the mountains so the allies couldn't get past and were surrounded.
- Canada played a very big part in the war, they served through the snow, hear, and rain, Canada lost over 23,000 soldiers during this fight. It was really important for Canada to be in this fight because it opened the Mediterranean sea for trading ships.
- Canada's Involvement
- In the end of the campaign Germany surrendered, there were many losses from both sides. Overall there were about 900,000 losses from both sides combinmed.
