  • "Jesus what a tramp." he said. "So that's what Curly picks for a wife?"
  • "Cause I'm black. They play cards in there but I can't play because i'm black."
  • "Why ain't you wanted?"
  • "What you gonna say tomorrow when the boss asks you questions?"
  • "I.... I ain't gonna say a word."
  • Theme: Discrimination (Sexism) In this scene, the story showed sexism through characters such as George. In chapter 2, George was stereotyping Curley's wife just from the first impression, and not actually getting to know who she is.
  • Theme: Discrimination (Racism)This scene shows racism through Crooks. In the story he said that he was excluded from the others because of his skin color. In this scene he also mentioned that the other people said he smelled bad. He was being discriminated against and treated poorly by other people all because his skin tone was darker than the rest. 
  • Theme: Discrimination (Ableism)This scene shows ableism because through the character, Lennie. Lennie has a disability and throughout the story, he was constantly treated differently by others because of it, especially by George. George always assumed Lennie would be the reason they would lose certain opportunities such as the job interview, so he told him not to speak.
