Storyboard Text

  • Who's there?
  • It is nothing but the wind in the chiminey
  • Every night, about midnight, the man turned the latch of the old mans door and opened it. It took an hour just so that the man could get into the room so quitely! He then undid the lanter so cautiously. He did this for seven long nights-every night just at midnight-but he found the eye of the old man closed; so it was impossible to do the work; for it was not the old man who vexed him, but the old man's Evil Eye.
  • Upon the eigth night he man was more than usually cautious in opening the door. The man thought of how the old man didn't know the butlers secret deeds or thoughts. He fairly chuckled of that idea and then the old man had heard him. Startled the old man jumped out of his bed. The butler stood there at one place for a whole hour since it was pitch black inside of the room.
  • While the butler was waiting patiently he heard the old man groan, the type of groan when the soul is overcharged with awe. Stealthily-until, at length, a single dim ray, like the threead of the sider, shot from out the crevice and fell upon the vulture eye. The butler grew furious as he graze upon it. The butler then heard the beating of the old man's heart. It increased the butlers fury, as the beating of a drum stimulates the soldier into courage.
  • I admit the deed! tear up the planks! I've killed him!
  • The butler could hear the old man heart beat getting louder and louder! With that the old man's hour had come! With a loud yell, the butler threw open the lantern and leaped into the room. In an instant the butler dragged the old man to the floor, and pulled the heavy bed over him. The old man was stone dead!
  • After the butler dismembered the corpse and replacing the planks around four o'clock-still dark as midnight, the bell sounded. There cam a knocking at the street door. He went down to open it with a light heart. There entered three police men. A shreik had been heard by a neighbor during the night:\. The butlers manner had convinced the police.
  • The butler had the audacity to tell the police to stay and he told them to sit in the place where he killed the old man. After a while the man heard the old mans heart beating again. He then thought the police had suspected him and heard the heart beat too. The butler then confessed that he was the murderer.
