- The Toy Gun
- The incident
- Jerome's ghost
- The main character "Jerome" made his first friend at school. His friends name is Carlos and he just moved to Chicago and hasn't made any friends other than Jerome. After they got into a little bit of trouble in the school bathroom with bully's Carlos pulled out a toy gun to fool the bully's so they wouldn't beat them.
- Jerome and other ghosts
- As Jerome was living his normal life he gets shot and killed for no reason. The police man says that he thought the gun was a toy gun and wasn't real so he shot him without knowing the dangers.
- Carlos confesses
- Jerome turns into a ghost and meets the daughter of the police man who killed him. The girls name is Sarah. She is the only one that can see Jerome as a ghost so they sort of become friends. Sarah is not on her Dads side and doesn't really look at him the same as she used to. Sarah has empathy for Jerome and wants to help his case even while staying close with her family.
- Day of the Dead
- Jerome realizes that he can see other ghosts. He considers these other ghosts his new family. One of the ghosts name is Emmett and he and Jerome shared story's on how they died. Sarah can also see Emmett and other ghosts.
- On the day of the dead Carlos confesses about the toy gun. He talks about how its is fault for Jerome's death and how sorry he is. He told Jerome's Grandma who cares the most about Jerome. All she does in response is she hugs him and is happy that he told the truth.
- Carlos's family and Jerome's family get together and celebrate at Jerome's grave. They both celebrate the life of Jerome's on the day of the dead.
