- Therefore, Jane fled this dreadful wedding, and she erred during nights and days, suffering rain, coldness and despair.
- Fortunately, St John and his sisters — who happened to be Jane's cousins — took her in their house, where she has been pleased for months.

- So Jane fled — again — to return to Rochester. At the time, she learned that Thornfield Hall had been burnt by Bertha Mason. She died, and trying to save her, Rochester lost sight.
- It is you—is it, Jane? You are come back to me then?

- Reader, she married him. They lived happily ever after — as Rochester recovered sight in one eye — with their own child and Adele, who they often visited in her school.
