  • I'm so glad to see you again Mrs. Smith and i'm very pleasant with your results. The baby is doing fine. Do you have any questions?
  • Thank you so much nurse Molina. My only concern is that sometimes i'm not sure if i'm eating enough. As you know it's my first baby. I wanna make sure i'm eating good.
  • May I ask; how are you feeling during the day after eating?
  • Well sometimes I feel really tired and dizzy. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
  • I'm sure you are doing nothing wrong. The weight before conception influences the fetal growth and development and nutritional status during pregnancy. The general principles of solid nutrition should be applied when combining foods that provide calorie requirements, proteins, vitamins, and minerals need and eat a healthy diet.
  • Nutrition is about eating a healthy, balanced diet so your body gets the nutrients it needs. Nutrients are substances in food that the body needs to function and grow. These include proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and water.
  • Well to be honest I don't drink too much water and I need to start eating more nutrients. Sometimes I can't believe i'm pregnant.
  • When you're pregnant, nutrition is more important than ever. Preferring healthy foods daily will help give your baby what he or she needs to develop. It will also help you and your baby gain the right amount of weight. Folic acid is a vitamin B that can help prevent certain birth defects. During pregnancy and lactation you need 600 micrograms per day from food or vitamins, so you should take a supplement that contains folic acid.
  • Wow I was not familiar with all this. I know iron is also important right?
  • Yes, iron is important for your baby's brain growth and development. During pregnancy the amount of blood in your body increases, so you need more iron for you and the baby. You should receive 27ml of iron daily. Also vitamin D helps calcium form baby's bones and teeth. I can talk to your doctor and see if he can prescribe you something for you and the baby.
  • Yes please. I would appreciate it. I wanna make sure i'm doing everything I can to help my baby growth big and strong. Thank you so much nurse Molina.
