Storyboard Text
- One night the Wife of the ancient chief of Skyland dreamed that the great tree in Skyland had been uprooted. The next morning she told her husband her dream.
- I saw the Great Tree Uprooted
- The ancient chief called the young men together and told them to uproot the tree but they couldn't. So the chief decided he would do it himself, the chief wrapped his arms around the tree and uprooted the tree by himself.
- The wife of the chief leaned down to look what's down the hole and she thought she saw something. So she leaned down further lost her balance and fell into the hole. Her hand slipped off a branch and on her way down and grabbed a handful of seeds.
- The woman was caught and saved by two swans who slowly brought her down toward the water where the birds and animals were watching. All the other animals realized she is not like them and one of the birds decided that there is earth below them and they must dive down to bring up earth.
- All the other animals had attempted to get the earth from the bottom of the water but could not. The tiny muskrat decided that she wanted to try. "She dove down and swam and swam. She was not as strong or as swift as the others, but she was determined. She went so deep that it was all dark, and still, she swam deeper. She went so deep that her lungs felt ready to burst, but she swam deeper still. At last, just as she was becoming unconscious, she reached out one small paw and grasped the at the bottom, barely touching it before she floated up, almost dead." This is the universal theme that determination and perseverance can beat strength and talent and that you don't have to be the tallest or strongest just the most determined.
- The muskrat came up from the water with her fist clenched with the earth in her right hand. The Great Turtle told her to put it on his back and Finally, the muskrat put the earth on the turtle's back and created new earth. The earth quickly got larger and larger and became a whole new world. The two swans brought the sky woman down who opened her hand, letting the seeds fall onto the bare soil. From those seeds, the trees and grass grew and life on the new earth had begun.
