Greetings Minister, based on information we received about the out break of cholera on 23 May 2023, where it was reported that 229 people have seen in Jubilee hospital, and of the 229 people, 23 have succumbed to cholera while another 23 have been transferred to Gauteng hospitals. My team and I conducted a quantitative research, case-control study.
We conducted a survey from hospitals and clinics surrounding Hammanskraal where cases of cholera were presented. From their data base we collected data on the number of confirmed cases recorded each day, number of people presented with symptoms of cholera, number of people suspected to be exposed to the cause. With the help of department of Statistics we looked at the population of community. We will looked at the age, gender, socioeconomic status of the people affected. We followed the direction of a retrospective study since the outbreak had already occurred before our investigation. Applied a postpositivist worldview as we were looking to identify and assess the causes of cholera. We analyze our numerical variables using STATA.
As our trusted public health researcher, I would like an update on the research you and your team were tasked to conduct regarding the cases of Cholera in Hammanskraal.
