"You take Nick and Jordan. We'll follow you in the coupe."
Fill 'er up
"Let's have some gas! What do you think we stopped for-to admire the view?"
They have lunch at Gatsby's, and Daisy complains about the heat. Daisy suggests going to town, but Tom does not think that it is a good idea. Tom agrees and the five of them decide to take a trip into town.
Conflict at the Plaza Hotel
"Daisy's leaving you"
"Nonsense. She's not leaving me!"
"I am, though"
Before heading out, Daisy decides to ride with Gatsby in the coupe, while Tom takes Nick and Jordan in the towncar. In the car, Tom tells Nick and Jordan that he began an investigation into Gatsby's affairs. Tom notices that the car is almost out of gas, so he decides to pay a visit to his friend, Wilson.
Hit & Run
"Beat me! Throw me down and beat me you dirty little coward!"
Tom, Nick, and Jordan stop for gas at George Wilson's, where they find him under the weather. He has a made a strange discovery that his wife, Myrtle, was having an affair. However, he does not know with who but he wants to move out west. As a precaution, he locks her away and Tom leaves with Nick and Jordan in the car.
Keeping Watch
"How long are you going to wait?"
"All night, if necessary. Anyhow, till they all go to bed."
They go to the Plaza Hotel, and an altercation arises very quickly. Tom finds out that Daisy loves Gatsby, and Gatsby is surprised when Daisy tells him that she loved Tom before. This scene is very important because they argue and everything is out in the open.
On their way back home, Daisy and Gatsby are in the coupe and Tom, Nick, and Jordan are in the towncar. Outside of Wilson's gas station Myrtle runs into the road out of frustration when Daisy and Gatsby hit her with their car. They, however, do not check on her and keep driving home.
After Nick goes home with Tom and he decides to go home instead of coming inside. Tom calls him cab, and Gatsby confronts him from the bushes. Gatsby tells him what happened to Myrtle and states that he'll be watching Daisy for the duration of the night.
