  • Fredrick Douglass was furious that he was treated like this. That night he thought of a plan to escape slavery.
  • Someone is waiting for you
  • Really?
  • The next day, to the sound of the horn, he ran to the plantation to tell his friends about the plan. He was really excited about the plan.
  • He told his friends, John and Henry, that he was going to go to the canoe and sail across the Chesapeake Bay. Frederick Douglass would make protection passes for each of his friends so they wouldn't get caught. His friends were excited about the plan.
  • The next day, as they were walking to breakfast, someone pulled them over and told them that someone was waiting for them. His friends then got butterflies in their stomach.
