  • Sir, why do we experience La Nina and El Nino? And what is their difference?
  • Good question, Bryan! I will explain to you their difference and why do we experience this.
  • El Nino is a weather pattern that occurs in Pacific Ocean . During this time, unusual winds cause warm surface water to move east, toward Central and South America It is responsible for chamging rainfall patterns and it usually appears 2-3 years. The ocean temperature gets warmer than usual. Smaller ocean organisms force to move deeper into cooler water.
  • La Nina is is considered to be the counterpart of El Nino. The wind increases makes the water getting colder and that cold water comes to the surface, and brings heavy rain. La Nina is a Spanish word means "Little girl" while El Nino is "Little boy". La Nina brought flourishes the marine life and other places in the world as it cools down and add nutrients to the soil.
  • Oh. That's quite remarkable! But. Sir which of these two is worse?
  • They both had a tremendous effect to our global condition. If it is too much El Nino, there will be drought and extreme heat temperature while too much La Nina will bring heavy rainfall and massive floods.
  • I see. I think moderation is enough and also we need to be ready in times when this calamity happens to us. Thank you for that Sir, I may be able to share this to my friends when we have a discussion about this.
  • It's my pleasure to share this with you Bryan. Next time, you can ask me more about anything specifically Weather Patterns and Climate. It would be fun to discuss.
  • I will Sir. Got to go in my next class. See you next time!
  • See you again. Be good to your class!
