Vlad III, commonly known as Vlad the Impaler or Vlad Dracula, was Voivode of Wallachia three times between 1448 and his death in 1477. He is often considered one of the most important rulers in Wallachian history and a national hero of Romania.
He was famous for impaling his enemies on stakes in the ground and leaving them to die. This earned him the name Vlad the Impaler.

Fun Fact:Vlad The Impaler has been commonly cited as the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula. His full name was Vlad II Draculae, or “Son of the Dragon”, which is where Bram Stoker got his name for Dracula. Vlad the Impaler was famous for his cruelty.
