  • Economic Conflicts
  • The economy here is awful, lets move to West Germany, I heard they live in a better living condition.
  • First Clashes
  • THAT IS ridiculous . People are going to go where they want to go, and we cannot stop them!
  • I am going to start a blockade on everything from the West to the East of Germany!
  • After WWII, Germany was divided amongst the Allies, Britain, USA, France, and Soviet Union. They controlled the Western area except for the Eastern area which was controlled by the Soviet Union.
  • People Suffering
  • Berlin, the nation's capital, was divided among the four as the nation was. The Eastern section of that city experienced economic suffering as a result of its style of government. Many made the decision to move to West Germany as a result, as there was a more ensuring economy there.
  • Thinking Highly
  • The Soviet Union was furious after East Germany's enormous immigration to West Germany. The Soviet Union's then-leader, Nikita Khrushchev, made the decision to force the Allies from Berlin. Their first action was to stop any imports into Berlin from the West.
  • The Fall of Berlin Wall
  • Millions of people were left imprisoned in the western section of the city after the blockage. This prevented many people from getting food or other basic needs. This was an action made to force the western allies out of the city.
  • They closed off the allies from Berlin, How will West Berlin get any items?
  • Instead of forcing the allies out, the Soviet Union used its air force to airdrop the city's essential supplies. In 1949, the blockade was finally lifted.
  • East and West Berliners came together in celebration. The fall of the Berlin Wall was the first step towards German reunification. In 1989, political changes in Eastern Europe and civil unrest in Germany put pressure on the East German government to loosen some of its regulations on travel to West Germany.
