- Hello welcome to the Indus Valley tour. For our first trip we will go to the town to see some homes so let's go!

- The Indus valley is located in Pakistan. The Indus Valley civilization started in 2500 BCE.
- This is the Indus river. We use it for water to clean ourselves and so much more.
- The wealthier people had bigger houses and the pourer people had smaller homes. The homes had lots of rooms too.
- Houses were important because everyone had a place to stay and live.
- Most of the Mohenjodaro people lived in the lower city. Rows of houses line the streets. Most houses had flat roofs and were 2 stories high.
- Houses were made out of mud bricks like this one here. They uses mud bricks because once the mud hardened it was very structural.
- Houses
- In the Indus Valley they even had a sewer system. The sewer systems removes waste from houses. No other settlements at that time had a sewer system.
- The sewer system used drains, pipes, and wells. So that means they had bathrooms!
- Bathrooms
- Welcome to the Great Bath. The great bath is used for rituals. But also for water to bathe in.
- The great bath is 39 feet long and 8 feet deep.
- Seals are used are used as charms to keep away evil, like this merchant has. But the merchant also has them on his goods to show who owns them.
- Looks like this merchant is selling wheat! You might wonder what these yellow things are... Well they are seals.
- Seals have animals on them like tigers, buffalo, rhinoceros, and elephants.
- Hey it looks like they are trading!
- We trade because we have goods that other civilizations don't have. For example the Indus Valley has lots of wheat so we would trade wheat for something we don't have like spices.
- It is important to trade so then we can get things from other civilizations that we don't have.
