  • STATISTICS AND PROBABILITIES CLASS
  • Good Morning class. Our lesson today is all about Test Statistics.
  • Test StatisticIt is a random variable that is calculated from a sample dataused in hypothesis testing.
  • In identifying the test statistic is z-test or t-test, you should consider whether the population standard deviation is known or unknown
  • Z-TEST
  • In Z-test, the population standard deviation is known and the population is normally distributed. The Z-score is calculated with population parameters.
  • In addition, Z-test used to validate a hypothesis that the sample drawn belongs to same population, and the the sample size is greater than or equal to 30
  • T-TEST
  • T-test is used when the population variance or standard deviation are not known, and the population is normal or nearly normally distributed. The sample size in T-test is less than 30.
  • CENTRAL LIMIT THEOREM
  • In the Central Limit Theorem, if the population is normally distributed or the sample size is large______ then z has a standard normal distribution.
  • In addition, when the sample size is extremely large and the variance unknown, we used central limit theorem. The sample standard deviation may be used as an estimate of the population standard deviation when the variance is unknown.
  • Z-TEST(n 30), population standard deviation is known.(n__30), population standard deviation is not known (CLT).(n__30), population standard deviation is known.
  • Too summarize the lesson. Copy this.Goodbye and Thank you
