  • Jessie and The Color Changing Leavesby: salma traynham9/4/20216th period
  • That's a good question, Jessie. Maybe you should run an experiment on it.
  • Hey, Mom! I was just outside, and I noticed the leaves are turning different colors. Why?
  • I already know that every year around this time, when it gets cold outside, the leaves start to change colors.
  • Well, Jessie, before you begin an experiment, you must have a purpose or question, which is the leaves changing colors. Next, you must find out what you already know aboutthis situation
  • That's a good idea! Where should I start?
  • I think that if temperatures drop, the leaves will start to change colors.
  • Now, you have to figure out what you'll change, keep, and measure in this experiment, or your variables and control groups.
  • Next, you need to have a hypothesis, or what you think should happen.,
  • Now, conduct your experiment, collect your data, and conclude, and share your results.
  • Well, the temperatures are changing, so that's my independent variable. The color of the leaves is the dependent variable, and my control group is the leaves that stay in the same temperatures.
  • Great job, Jessie! Now, you can share your results, and keep doing this process to find out the answers to many other scientific questions you have!
  • After conducting my experiment and doing multiple trials, I found out that the leaves do change colors in colder temperatures.
