- In the end both Unoka and Okonkwo died without any titles.
- When Unoka died he was heavy in debt because of his lack of motivation. This caused his clan to not give him a title because they claimed he was not worthy.
- When Okonkwo died he was successful but because he killed himself the clan said he did not died in an honorable way. All of his accomplishments he made in his life meant nothing, and he ended up just like his father.
- Okonkwo has great success in his village, he is reminded of his dads laziness through his son, Nwoye.
- Okonkwo grew up hating everything that reminded him of his father. He was scared he would end up like him. This influenced him through his life, to not be anything like his father.
- Okonkwo was considered to be one of the greatest warriors of his clan.Unlike his father he was.
