- The narrator and her husband, John, a doctor, are staying at this house for the summer.Exposition
- "Your not sick, you are just suffering from a nervous depression.
- "I do not like this wallpaper. It's yellow and unclean looking. It is stripped all around. I am sick and not feeling well."
- "I think it's a woman who is trapped! I have to help her!"
- The narrator is now obsessed with the yellow wallpaper. When light hits certain areas, she notices a strange, provoking figure, a woman. Rising Action
- Climax- Because the narrator is getting worse, she tries to study the wallpaper with any kind of light. The wall becomes bars, and she catches Jennie studying the wallpaper. The narrator becomes afraid of John, and is determined to figure out the wallpaper mystery.
- Falling Action- Narrator's life is more exciting, as she wants to free the woman in the wallpaper. As a result, she slowly starts to remove the wallpaper. She notices the front pattern does move and the woman on the other side helps her!
- "I'm free! John can't put me back!"
- Resolution-The narrator believes she freed the woman from the wallpaper, which is herself. John finds her in her condition, and suddenly faints. She creeps around him and says,"I peeled off most of the wallpaper and you can't put me back!"
