- Beowulf approaches a gloomy rotted lake, bubbling with swirls of red throughout it. He gains ground closer toward the lake, preparinghimself mentally for the battle he is about to attend.
- He dives into the heated water, fully armed and protected by his armor, allowing himself to sink for hours on end into the warm, horrific water, until he reaches the benthic zone.
- As Beowulf reaches the grey darkness of the bottom, a sea witch finds him, she attacks him , nearly injuring him for his protection saves him.
- The witch grabs Beowulf and aggressively brings him back to her home, or as Beowulf noticed, a battle hall. He acknowledges the fiery wall which nobody can enter or exit from and he glances upward to notice a monster just ahead. This was Grendel's mother he viewed.
- Beowulf immediately grabs onto his sword preparing to fight. He goes to slice the monster with it, but does not phase her. He found that the weapondoes not work against the magical creature. They fight back and forth, making an even battle until Beowulf notices a beautiful large sword made by giants hanging on the wall. With all his strength he grabs onto the sword and slices the monster's head off.
- After his victory, Beowulf goes off in search for Grendel once again, though weak he carries the sword with him in an angry, prideful manner. Once Beowulf finds the weak and lifeless creature, he decides to slice the monster's head off as he did to his mother.
