- TRUE!--nervous--very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am; but why will you say that I am mad?
- It is impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain; but once conceived, it haunted me day and nigh.
- I think it was his eye! yes, it was this! He had the eye of a vulture-- a pale blue eye
- I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. he had never give me insult. For his gold I had no desire.
- I had to get rid of the eye so I cautiously oh so cautiously peeked into his room at midnight to spy on him and see the vulture eye
- upon the 8th night past midnight
- The lamp slipped and woke up the old man who yelled, But I stood there and waited
- Who's There!!
- then after hours and hours I finally did it, but few minutes later there was a knock at the door with police on the other side
- we talked in the same place I burred the old man until the sound of the old mans heart beat made me confess
- "Villains dissemble no more! I admit the deed!--tear up the planks! here, here!-- It is the beating of his hideous heart
