Salutry Neglect was a period of time where the king wouldn't actually listen to any of his subjects and pretty much did whatever he wanted rather than what the people wanted.
Boston Tea Party
Take that!
The Stamp Act was initiated by Parliament in which anything written on paper would be taxed. Writing for your job? Taxed. Letters to your loved ones? Taxed. Your will? Taxed. Any and all documentation was taxed and it didn't help that this was instated solely to try and gain back the money the British Empire lost during the Seven Year War.
Intolerable/Coercive Acts
This is atrocious!
The Townshend Acts was Parliament deciding that it would be a good idea to tax the Colonists again even though that ended horribly the first time. What Parliament had taxed this time around was imported goods which is argueably worse than the Stamp Act and AGAIN it was a way for the British to gain more money.
Common Sense
The Boston Tea Party, the event just about every American knows. It's when the Colonists protested against Parliament's Tea Act by throwing in the boxes of tea from the East India Company right into the sea. The reason why they did this was because the Tea Act made it to where only the East India Company had the right to import tea to the Colonists.
The Intolerable/Coercive Acts was mainly a way to punish the Colonists for the Boston Tea Party. This would, of course, only make Colonists resent Parliament and the king even more than they already did.
Common Sense, a book written by Thomas Paine is what enlightened more Colonists about Parliaments actions along with the actions of the monarch who at the time was King George III. This book is also what encouraged the thought of indepence/separation of the Colonists from Britain.
