I hate Georg Znaeym. If only I were to run into him out here.
I HATE you!
The setting here is in a forest on a dark winter night. This the perfect time and place for marauders to strike. Ulrich and his men know this so they are on the look out for anyone on their land. They are out hunting people.
Were stuck.
As Ulrich wanders off alone some of his emotion start to come up. He left his men and was on the lookout alone when the thought of him coming across his enemy, Georg, crosses his mind. They man he hates most. He thinks about what he would do if he found him out here on his land.
We should stop fighting and become friends.
You right. We were pretty dumb for fighting over this land.
This is the conflict of the short story. Ulrich and his enemy Georg come face to face. These two men with great hatred for one another and both armed come face to face. Both capable of killing the other. The biggest moment of their lives.
Before either man can do anything a tree comes crashing down on them. This leaves them both hurt and incapable of moving. The two enemies stuck under a tree.
This is were dialogue takes place. While the two are stuck under the tree they talk. They talk about how foolish they were out here fighting over a piece of land. They also talk about putting their hatred past them and becoming friends.
This is both were the irony takes place and the theme comes up. The irony being both the men being armed and capable of killing each other, they don't, a pack of wolves does. Then the theme being their hatred never lead to good things. They went to put it behind them but it was too late.
