  • The exposition was describing the outside layout of the cabin to create suspense for the readers. "Outside, the woods lay in clear October sunlight: the autumn air was full of the sharp,exciting smell of moist, leaf-covered earth." They used figurative to excite the audience. (Personification)

  • The rising action is when Judson found out someone had been drinking out of his bottle

  • The conflict is when Judson had put the drugs in the bourbon for the 'stealer' to drink

  • The climax leading to when he tripped, his wife was telling him to stop what he was doing

  • The falling action is when Judson was found unconscious on the grass by the man
  • In ruthless there is no resolution. Judson had died because someone (possibly his friend alec) gave him the poisoned alcohol not knowing what it could do to him
