- Pygmalion was an extremely talented sculptor. He had hated the women of Cyprus.
- Despite this, his greatest creation was that of a woman. He treasured the statue.
- He had soon fallen in love with his creation.
- Distraught by his love, he decided to give an offering to the goddess of love, Aphrodite and ask her to give his creation life.
- Aphrodite had decided to grant Pygmalion's wishes and had created Galatea.
- Pygmalion had discovered his love to be living, and soon had a child together, and lived together for the rest of their lives.
