Storyboard Text

  • In 1931 the Japanese blew up the Mekden railway in order for Japan to have an excuse to invade Manchuria for natural resources.
  • The Chinese appealed to the league, but the Japanese said it was out of self-defense.
  • The League's officials sailed around the world to Manchuria in order to investigate.
  • The officials came back a year later in 1932 where they made a detailed and balanced explanation about what happened.
  • The judgement was very clear that the Japanese had acted unlawfully and that Manchuria should be returned to the Chinese.
  • Japan planned to invade more of China therefore they resigned from the league.
